Hello dear community,

I have already completed my bachelor programme in Germany. Since I have just started with the GMAT I am completely lost in the huge amount of literature available out there.

Could you therefore please take some time and share with me (or simply post an appropriate link) what is the best literature to beat the gmat with at least a 700 score.

Furthermore I am particulary interested to what extent is it necessarily to buy the newest editions of each book (e.g., is it a MUST HAVE to buy the newest version of each book or can I simply borrow a second handed editions from 1 or 2 years ago).

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and assistance

Have a nice week hard working future Presidents and CEO's of bluechips

Kind Regards
Mitko

The most recent version are not necessary. There are some new problems and they may help, but not necessary.

You will need the official guide, the GMAT quantitative review, and the GMAT verbal review for questions. The one thing with these materials is that they do not do a great job of teaching the material. For that, use GMAT Prepsters quant guide and Manhattan GMATs verbal guides.

Good luck!

Must have: Official Guide for GMAT Review - 13th edition (aka OG13).

Whatever other resources you get, be sure that they include an Analytical Reasoning (IR) section. This section was added to the GMAT in the summer of 2012, so most resources created before 2012 will not cover this section.

To ensure that you cover everything that the GMAT tests, you might consider signing up for BTG's free 60-Day Study Guide: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-guide. Each day you will receive an email with a series of learning activities that will guide you, step-by-step, from Day 1 to test day (an outline of all 60 emails is here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-guide-outline).

Cheers,
Brent

Mitko -- Good question. Take a look at this link which talks about the challenge of moving from 700 to 760 -- https://www.manhattangmat.com/articles/7 ... erence.cfm

What have you done so far? Have you taken a practice exam?

Let me know if I can help more.

Firstly I would like to thank you all guys, for your very rapid and helpful responses. The beatthegmat - community is a place where you can get help like nowhere else.

Secondly I would like to answer to each one of you (three) guys:

@ "Jim@StratusPrep"- mate, you only directed me to the MANHATTAN's verbal guides. Aren't their quant guides good as well ? Do you think I should use them (the MANHATTAN's quant guides) as addition to the "GMAT Prepsters quant guide" or the prepster's is sufficient.

@ "Brent@GMATPrepNow"- My Manhattan's guides include the following books with regards to the reasoning parts.

1. The Critical Reasoning Guide

2. The Integrated Reasoning & Essay Guide

I assume that with "analytical reasoning" you meant Integrated reasoning, which is included in my manhattan's set. Am I correct or should I look further for books teaching the analytical reasoning ? Thank you in advance.

Regarding the 60 days course, I'd alkready signed for it, when I made my post here :)

@ "brianlange77"- Thanks a lot for the article, mate. I am just getting started and basically focused on selecting the best possible/ the most efficient literature out there. It's very kind of you to offer me your help, and, if needed I would contact you. Thank you

Basically thank to you all. i am not a nativespeaker in english, eventhough I can speak it pretty good. Therefore I really need some help in getting started. The rest is in my hands and I ll focus on one thing and 1 thing only - succeeding in doing what you named this Site after :)

Cheers

Quant guide should be sufficient, but m Gmat stuff is good too - just my personal preference. You definitely don't need both as too many materials often hamper students' progress.

Just to follow-up here, I'd suggest you start with a practice test or two -- only then will you truly have an idea of where/how you need to focus. You might find these two additional articles particularly helpful on that front. Let me know if this makes sense.
