SI/CI problem

Q6 . My x a very industrious person, wants to establish his own unit . For this he need an instant loan of rs 5,00,000 and every five year he requires an additional loan of Rs. 100,000. if he had to clear all his outstanding in 20 years and he repays the principal of the firs loan equally over the 20 years, find what amount he would have to pay as interest on his initial borrowing if the rate of interest is 10%p.a. simple interest

a. 560,000
b. 540,000
c. 525,000
d. 500,000
e. None of these

the av. of any four fingers of my left hand is 600mm. Then av, length of all the five fingers of my left hand is:
1) 800mm
2) 750mm
3) 480mm
4) 300mm

Hi Harry9897,

What is the source of this question? I ask because it's poorly-written and not presented in proper GMAT 'style.' If you're studying for the GMAT, then you would be better served using realistic practice materials.

That having been said, if the AVERAGE of ANY 4 fingers (of the 5) on your hand is 600mm, then the length of EACH finger must be 600mm (that's the ONLY way to randomly choose 4 fingers and have the average always = 600mm). By extension, the average of ALL 5 fingers would also be 600mm.
