Hi,
Getting ready to finally put together my Statement of Purpose essay so asking a question that I really cant decide on. I became an entrepreneur in Media in India 5 years ago. Today my tiny firm is executing some of the biggest Content Marketing Campaigns in the country with brands like Coca-Cola. I have just been through a really scary phase where we were into a huge amount of debt due to an expansion plan gone bad. It was scary because we had a 70% debt situation. To top it all my Partner and I split on not-so-good-terms in the middle of it all and refused to take up a responsiblity for the outstanding. I started a new company. Got it on track. Executed one of the Biggest Content Marketing campaigns ever and was covered by Media across the country and from some in the US. At the same time we also managed to pay off all the debt from the previous company. I now want to do an MBA in order to analyse my strengths and weaknesses and be completely sure of my decisions (from a Business and Strategy perspective) before moving forward. Should I mention this situation of Debt in my Essay or will it work against me? Sorry for this long post but I would like to know your opinion.

Your story sounds not only fantastic but exciting. You'd be crazy NOT to use it.

Thanks Jon. Am going to use it and ensure that it is a story about my learnings
and not a melodrama piece about my resilience and how tough things had become.
Am sure that much is obvious to schools if I say it was a nasty debt situation and
a company that grew without any VC Funding.

Well look at this way... most people don;t have the guts to even TRY what initially failed in your case... AND you made good on it ultimately. So I'd call that a preeeeeetty masterful success. And I don't think you need to make it into a melodrama. Just keep it in the "Action" section.
