You will be competitive to those schools given your WE, great GMAT and international experience. You might even be a candidate for an EMBA program since you will be essentially 12 years into HP by the time you apply--had you considered that option? You could keep your job then. While I generally recommend full time programs, if you are looking to return to HP at a higher level, you might talk to them about sponsoring your EMBA. Plus, since EMBA applications are down this year thanks to the bad economy, your odds of acceptance go up!

I would rather do a full time program for several reason

1.) I want to do a semester abroad. Continue to grow my network in Asia
2.) HP would not sponsor an EMBA they actually halted the Undergrad assistance right before i graduated. In addition i have saved up enough money to take a couple years off work
3.) I want to test myself on the open market i have noticed people at the top executive levels at HP come from other companies. Its very difficult to stay in HP and climb all the way to the top... The director of my division actually advised me in an off the record conversation that he thought i should go full time then sell myself on the open market... HP is very top heavy right now.. Growth has slowed.

Any thoughts?
