LSAT CR

A survey of alumni of the class of 1960 at Aurora University yielded puzzling results. When asked to indicate their academic rank, half of the respondents reported that they were in the top quarter of the graduating class in 1960.

Which one of the following most helps account for the apparent contradiction above?
(A) A disproportionately large number of high-ranking alumni responded to the survey.
(B) Few, if any, respondents were mistaken about their class rank.
(C) Not all the alumni who were actually in the top quarter responded to the survey.
(D) Almost all of the alumni who graduated in 1960 responded to the survey.
(E) Academic rank at Aurora University was based on a number of considerations in addition to average grades.

OA A

Can someone please explain me the approach to "resolve the paradox questions". I get them wrong most of the times :(

Here OA A is easy to spot. Moore than half the respondents say that they are in top 25% is possible only when most of the res[ondents are in top quadrants. Let total 100 student, if 40 responds including 25 toppers, more than half i.e. more than 20 will say they were in top Q.

B. Few just mentions that false reports are not reported, doesn't mean explain tha paradox though

C. Can puzzle the situation even more

D. Clear contradiction, that way never more than 25% can say they were in top Q

E. Defn of rank is irrelevent.

B, even if considered true doesn't resolve the paradox, at the best it will say that the collected info is correct, by saying that collected info is wright it doesn't resolve the paradox why more than half are top rankers.

I would say D because it says almost all of them but not all. so I understand that not all of them responded.
