From the question stem, we get y = x -4
Now,
x + y > 0

x + x - 4 > 0
2x > 4

x > 2

Enough to answer the question

2)
From the stem, y = x-4
xy < 0
x(x-4) < 0

Either x <0 and x -4 > 0 (a)
OR
x > 0 and x - 4 < 0 (b)

No real solution exists for (a), and (b) puts the value of x as 0 < x < 4. This means both x = 1 and x = 3 satisfy the above.
