Hi,
I am a prospective Female/Indian/26 MBA candidate with a focus on entrepreneurship looking to apply for Fall 2013. I haven't given my GMAT yet, but expecting something around 720.
Following is my brief background :
--Completed my Bachelors( 3.8/4 from a decent university in India ) and Masters( 3.65/4 from Top 15 univ ) in Computers
--Worked at a Silicon Valley Startup which grew from 100->300 since I joined. I have had various roles in the company from Test Engineer, Development
and customer interfacing roles and show a progression in roles. I have worked 3.5 years at this company.
--I am the founder of a non profit which is at its growth stages, been just 8 months but has made some meaningful progress with fundraising and
operations.
--I am about to change jobs and have 2 offers -> Startup with 2 founders which just completed its Series A and another Startup which is backed by great
VC's( size 100 ) and has a great team( MIT, Stan alums ). The only other thing is that with my new job I will have just 8 months of experience with the
company I join and 1.5 years in that company when i matriculate.
--While Applying to Business School I will have 5 years in total( 3.5 at current firm and 1.5 at new firm )
--Have many extra-curicullars under my belt including Marathons, several national level presentation, debate prizes
--Have had leadership roles at undergrad and grad institutions.
I have 2 questions primarily( First one being the main concern ) :
1. Do you think I should join the smaller startup where I will do engineering work as well as other things like Sales, Branding etx and this would help me eventually in my long term plans of starting something of my own? Or do you think I should join the 100 people startup( where I will do mostly engineering work) which has a good name associated with it. I am more tilted towards the former as I think it will help me with my long term plans of pursuing entrepreneurship.
2. My target schools are
Stan,Kellog,Booth,Wharton,LBS, MIT --- Dream schools
Tuck, Columbia, Stern, Haas, INSEAD --- Hopeful
Anderson, Ross, Darden, Duke - Hopeful to crack atleast one
What are my chances?
