Answer B

You can pick number for the size population and by calculation prove that B is correct. But using POE this calculations are not necessary.

The answer is D.

Increase in chewing tobacco by 18% shows the profit and increase in smoking only by 3.4% shows that profit were lower compared to chewing tobacco.

What would you say and what was your reasoning in asnwering this question? I am having a tough time as well with CR...I am following MGMAT strategy, but it seems not to work.. :(

Let us say

In 1973
-----------

Smoker = 10
Tobacco chewer = 10
Total population = 100
Consumption in 1973 = 20 %

In 1976
-----------


Smoker = 10 + .034 = 10.034
Tobacco chewer = 10 + .18 = 10.18
Total population = 105
Consumption in 1976 = 20.214/105 = .1925

The % consumption went down, hence B.
