Hi,
Could you guys give me a hand reviewing my profile?
25 y/o Hispanic US-born male
BA in Econ from top 5 state school w/3.2 GPA (transferred in after freshman year at unknown state school, GPA Soph year 2.6/ Junior 3.6/Senior 3.5)
760 GMAT 85 %ile Quant / 97 %ile Verbal (1st attempt)
Work Experience: 3 years as of now (4 years at matriculation), at a cargo airline/subsidiary of a very well regarded latin-american based airline (many HBS case studies on it). Working in the operations control center, 'quarterbacking' the day to day operations of the freighter fleet.
E/C activities: Not much since college. In college was part of Investment Club, and sat on a few committees. Also was founding member and treasurer of wakeboard club/team that went from 40 to 120 members, and the team ended up winning national championship my senior year.
Why MBA?: As I've been networking with people within consulting, many have told me that I need an MBA to work in M/B/B (due to low undergrad GPA.)
Essays: Strong experiences in workplace, primary theme is overcoming "prejudice" against me at my job as a US-born hispanic (out of 200-250 people at my office, there are only 3 US-born people) and earning the respect of my peers, eventually earning employee of year award. (2 years in)
Short-Term Goal: Work in M/B/B, ideally in one of their aviation practices
Long-Term Goal: Run a top airlines fleet or strategic planning departments
Could you please evaluate my odds at H/S/W as well as Chicago and Kellogg?
Thanks!
