Is x > y?

1. x = y+2

X is greater than Y by 2 units hence A is suff

2. x/2 = y-1

X = 2Y - 2

X may or may not be greater than Y, hence unsuff

Is x > y?
1. x = y+2
2. x/2 = y-1
1. It is sufficient only if it is given that x and y are +ve integers.

2. x = 2y - 2
similarly if y is +- 2 x will be 2,-6

two eq 1 & 2 is sufficient. Basic rule of simul. eq.

In st1, x is always greater than y, it has nothing to do with signs of x and y
