one part = circle
second part=square
Therefore perimeter of circle and square = length of the wire.
circumference of circle = 2*pi*r
perimeter of square = 4s
2*pi*r + 4s = 40
4s = 40 - 2*pi*r
s = (40-2*pi*r)/4 => 10 - 1/2(pi*r)
area of the circle = pi*r^2
area of square = [10 - 1/2(pi*r)]^2
Total area = pi*r^2 + [10 - 1/2(pi*r)]^2
Hence E is the answer.
