The operation* represents either addition, subtraction, or multiplication of integers, what is the value of 1*0?
(1) 0*2 = 2.
(2) 2*0 = 2.

(1) 0 * 2 = 2 implies * cannot be subtraction, multiplication and division. So, * represents addition as 0 + 2 = 2.
Hence, 1 * 0 = 1 + 0 = 1
So, (1) is SUFFICIENT.

(2) 2 * 0 = 2 implies * can represent either addition or subtraction as 2 + 0 = 2 and 2 - 0 = 2
So, 1 * 0 = 1, whether * represents addition or subtraction.
So, (2) is SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is [spoiler](D)[/spoiler]. But here the two statements are contradicting each other. Seems as if something is missing from the question.

Because 1st statement suggests that * represents addition and (2) suggests that * represents addition and subtraction, both. Looking at the main question, I still feel that OA should be (D), as we are able to find the value of 1*0.

I too doubt the source on OA issue.

Had the question asked about "what does * represent?, then the OA would have been (A) but here the question asks the value of 1*0, which we can find using both the statements independently. So, it seems to be (D).
