In the MGMAT SC guide problem set, there is a sentence

Fifty milliliters of sodium chloride were added in the second step of the experiment.

I just feel this should be

Fifty milliliters of sodium chloride was added in the second step of the experiment.

Am i right?

Nope. "Fifty milliliters of sodium chloride" is plural, and agrees with the plural verb, "were." A sentence like this one is designed to sound a little "off," which is what makes it difficult.
