CR Speed

by Wrestlin27 » Tue Jun 04, 2013 3:47 am
My accuracy for CR isn't bad, but I tend to be a little slow, averaging ~2:30 per question. This ends up hurting my timing, especially with RC.

Doea anyone have any recommendations for increasing speed other than more practice?

Thanks in advance.

The key to speed on CR is to spend less time with the answer choices. Inference questions are the exception, but for the other question types you really want to spend as little time as possible with the answer choices.

You want to have an idea of what the answer needs to say or do BEFORE you go to the answers. You see, the verbal section of the GMAT does not really try to fool you. There is only one correct answer after all. What the GMAT does is it allows you to talk yourself into the other answers. The more time you spend with the answers the more of a chance you can talk yourself into the wrong answer. But if you know ahead of time what you are looking for in an answer then you can move through the choices efficiently.

Here is an article I wrote that tells you what to focus on in CR. https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2011/02/ ... duncan-way
