stmt1,

2x-2y=1

x-y=1/2

x=1,y=1/2,x and y are +ve

x=-1/2,y=-1,x and y are -ve

Insuff

stmt2,

x/y>1

x=2,y=1,x and y are +ve

x=-2,y=-1,x and y are -ve

Insuff

1 and 2,

x-y=1/2 and x/y>1

x/y>1 or x-y/y>0

1/2/y>0-->y is +ve

Since y is +ve to satisfy the eqn x-y=1/2 surely x must be +ve
