If x is an integer, what is the value of x?
(1) –2(x + 5) < -1
(2) – 3x > 9

Not sure but OA is C. I thought E. Please help

From 1) x>-4.5
From 2) x<-3

From 1 and 2) x=-4.
Notable point here is that the question stem says "x" is an integer

Can someone explain how these inequalities ar eset equal to each other to come up with -4 as the answer. I get the part about 1)as 9/2 and 2) as less than -3 but I dont see the last step.

so you can figure out,
x > -4.5
x < -3

which means
-4.5 < x < -3

So x is between -4.5 and -3 (not inclusive of the two), and there is only one integer between those extremes, -4.
