Infinitive and Idiomatic

I saw a line and want to make sure its correct.

I have seen people struggle to consolidate their current position and use the information for planning their future.

Here for planning seems a little awkward, should it be to plan? Idiomatically?

Yes it should be to plan in order to maintain parallelism because in the first part of the sentence " to consolidate" is being used.
