we need something to compare to patterns of stress that girls experience. Only E fulfills this correctly with stress patterns of boys.

A is perfectly parallel. A is the answer.

I think E is not correct.

Pattern of stress that girls experience result in X than Y.

There is no comparison here.Similarly B and C are out.

Narrows down to A and D.

A seems to better and parallel.

Let's eliminate the modifiers.

The patterns ARE more likely than ARE X.

Here, We can have the sentence as follows:

The patterns are more likely than X are ----> This is done if and only if X is NOT modified by any other word(s).

Since X = those that boys experience, this portion is divided into two parts:

Those --> Pronoun
Modifier--> that boys experience.

The final:

The patterns of X are more likely than are those of Y.

Answer is A.
