anything other than the subject is the subject complement,

subject : "His ambition"

subject complement : "is to fly"

Whats Subject complement ?
Subject complement is the thing on the other side of a form of "to be" -- basically the other side of the verbal equation X = Y, where X is the subject, "is" is the "=", and Y is the subject complement.
