Are all ratios of areas of like shapes such as circle to circle or trapezoid to trapezoid the ratio of the square of corresponding lengths?

I know this holds true for rectangles and circles but what other shapes does it apply to?

Circle and Square - Always true.
Triangle, rectangle and any other shape - true only ifall sides are of same proportion - like simillar triangles.
