Dear tsharma,
I'm happy to help with this. :) Yes, yes, yes: GMAC loves to grill the absolutely celestial clarity of a pronoun's antecedent, and anything that smacks of the least bit of ambiguity is cast into the outer darkness where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth. In other words, yes, they regard pronoun ambiguity as a serious problem.
