flatly means conveyed FIRMLY or WITHOUT EMOTION.
It generally serves to modify how someone SPEAKS.
John FLATLY DENIES that he ate the cookie.
Conveyed meaning:
John FIRMLY DENIES that he ate the cookie.

A resultative adjective appears AFTER a verb and serves to modify the noun that receives the ACTION of the verb.
John painted the wall yellow.
Here, yellow (resultative adjective) appears after painted (verb) and serves to modify the wall (the noun that receives the painting action).
