The answer should be E. The best way to try and figure it out is to draw both lines and see if happens.

IMO E
you can draw two parallel lines passing through the two given points. You can rotate them simultaneously through 360 degrees and they will still be parallel and the slope can be negative or positive.
The powers of two are bloody impolite!!

Given: Lines k and m are parallel to each other.

Let's jump straight to....

Statements 1 and 2 combined
There are many cases that satisfy BOTH statements. Here are two:

Case a:

In this case, the slope of line k is POSITIVE


Case b:

Image
In this case, the slope of line k is NEGATIVE

Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, the combined statements are NOT SUFFICIENT

Answer: E
