Is Necessary = Required ?
Required Condition > Necessary condition

Means In addition to the necessary condition you may be given to choose from other external conditions.
Ex:-It is necessary to fuel the car for it to start.
But,it is also required that you put on seat-belt,make sure that the co-passenger has its seat belt on(this is an optional condition depending upon if a co-passenger is there or not)

Like this, you can have other optional conditions also.

Reframing the equation it becomes,

Required Condition = Necessary condition + Optional Condition

For better info, you can check out these links:-

Over there,it is explained in detail with appropriate examples.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

Just because something is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't try,it means you should just try harder.

Necessary conditions are those conditions which has to be correct for a particular eq. or expression to be correct.
for line to be parallel there slope should be equal which is necessary condiiton
while required conditions are those conditions which are required to be solved in a problem..
Like solve a+b in a certain problem//so actually a+b is required.

"only if" does indeed introduce a necessary condition.

And a necessary condition is the same thing as a required condition. That is, "required" and "necessary" are perfectly synonymous.

Example:

"You are in New York ONLY if you are in the United States."

Then, being in the United States is necessary/required in order to be in New York; if you are not in the US, then you are not in New York. Thus, being in New York is sufficient to conclude that you are in the United States.

Not sure, why you're worried about this though. Formal logic is staple on the LSAT but untestable on the GMAT. The GMAC itself in the OG states that formal logic conventions are not tested in the GMAT.
