On Monday a store had a sale on bottles of juice S and juice T. If 1/2 the total number of bottles of juice S in stock were sold on Monday, for which juice, S or T, were more of the bottles sold that day?

1) Two-thirds of the total number of bottles of juice T in stock were sold on Monday.
2) At the beginning of the sale, there was a total of 90 bottles of juice S and 60 bottles of juice T in stock.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) Two-thirds of the total number of bottles of juice T in stock were sold on Monday.

=> 2/3 of T and 1/2 of S were sold. We don't know the values of S and T to compare. Insufficient.

(2) At the beginning of the sale, there was a total of 90 bottles of juice S and 60 bottles of juice T in stock.

=> 90/2 = 45 bottles of S were sold but we don't know how many of 60 bottles of T were sold. Insufficient.

(1) and (2) together

45 bottles of S and 60*2/3 = 40 bottles of T were sold. Thus more bottles of S were sold than bottles of T. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C

For which juice S or T were more of the bottles sold that day?

Statement 1
Two-third of the total numbers of the bottles of Juice T were sold on Monday.
2/3 of T and 1/2 of S were sold on Monday.
The exact value of T and S is not known
Hence statement 1 is INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2
At the beginning of the sales,there was a total of 90 bottles of juice S and 60 bottles of juice T in the stock.
From question stem 1/2 of S was sold.
1/2 of 90 = 45 bottles of S were sold.
The statement does not provide information on the proportion of Juice T that was sold, hence it is INSUFFICIENT.

Combining Statement 1 and 2 together
2/3 of T and 1/3 of S were sold on Monday
where T = 60 and S = 90
$$\frac{2}{3}\cdot60=40\ and\ \frac{1}{2}\cdot90=45$$
40 bottles of T and 45 bottles of S were sold on Monday. Therefore, more bottles of S than T were sold.

Both statements together are SUFFICIENT.
