help

by sana.noor » Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:03 pm
To develop more accurate population forecasts,
demographers have to know a great deal more than
now about the social and economic
determinants of
fertility.
(A) have to know a great deal more than now about
the social and economic
(B) have to know a great deal more than they do
now about the social and economical
(C) would have to know a great deal more than they
do now about the social and economical
(D) would have to know a great deal more than they
do now about the social and economic
(E) would have to know a great deal more than now
about the social and economic

i dont know its OA but what i go with D, economical is wrong so B and C are out. "would" is must so A is out.. E isnt using "Subject+verb" after "More than"...so D is the best choice. am i right?

I agree with you sana.noor. Economical is wrong usage. Would is correct usage. D is more likely to be correct.
You can, for example never foretell what any one man will do, but you can say with precision what an average number will be up to!

I'd say D too, with the same logic as Sana.noor
