Hi all!

Answer A is unclear. Look at the words:
"were suffering...dwindling..., ... resulting...increasing..."
It is not clear what is the subject in clause after a comma.

verb with preposition "to suffer from" is correct
noun with preposition "increase in" is also correct
verb with preposition "to result from" is correct and means "to be the consequence of"
noun with preposition "result of" is correct

Answer B shows cause and effect relationships in a distinct manner.

1) Dave is suffering from fever.
2) ...creatures of the seabed were suffering from dwindling food supplies

A is nonsensical. Creatures are not suffering from food supplies. Rather, they are suffering because food supplies were dwindling.

B corrects this.

B is absolutely right.

Creatures cannot suffer from dwindling food supplies...they can suffer BECAUSE of dwindling food supplies..
