A delivery service has 12 shipments. Four of these shipments each consists of 14 boxes while each of 6 other shipments consists of 17 boxes each. If the remaining shipments total 34 boxes, what is the average (arithmetic mean) number of boxes per shipment for these 12 shipments?

A) 5 1/2
B) 15 5/6
C) 16
D) 17 3/11
E) 21

Total number of shipments = 12

4 shipments each consists of 14 boxes ---> Total number of boxes = 4*14 = 56
6 shipments each consists of 17 boxes ---> Total number of boxes = 6*17 = 102
Total number of boxes in remaining shipments = 34

Hence, total number of boxes in all shipments = (56 + 102 + 34) = 192

Therefore, average number of boxes per shipment = (Total number of boxes in all shipments)/(Total number of shipments) = 192/12 = 16

The correct answer is C.
