# Consumers CANNOT be amount; they can be number.
Large number of consumer-->> CORRECT.
Large amount of consumer-->> WRONG.
A and E are out.

VERB+ing, NOUN--> VERB+ing modifies the NOUN.

Example:
Wearing a white shirt, Ron went to the party. [Here, "wearing" modifies Ron.]
Look at the option D.
Searching for............, bicycles...[ It means bicycles do the "SEARCHING".] It changes the meaning of the sentence. D is out.

Look at the option C.
A large number of consumers chose bicycles.........and lowered congestion. [It means that "CONSUMERS lowered the congestion"; however, the intended meaning of the sentence is "consumers' action of choosing bicycles" lowered the congestion. ] C changes the meaning of the sentence. C is out.

Correct answer: B
