I am a native speaker. I am 20 years old. I am graduating college this semester and needed to get this test out of the way. I have been a member for a while but only recently have I been active on the forums. I think the forums are a great tool for learning more about the GMAT and asking some hella smart people questions. I have been prepping since late May of this year. I did very little last summer and didn't do much this past school year. I am very bad at math and English because I never paid much attention in high school. I was much worse in math though. Last year I took a GMAT prep exam and got a 570. This was actually after practicing a bit over the summer.
I have the following materials:
OG 12 and the 2 other guides
the GMAC exams that cost like $25 and are from mba.com I think
McGraw Hill 2008 GMAT
GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible - Powerscore
GMAT Math Bible - Nova
and some various other things I was able to find on the internet and this site.
I feel as if the materials I used never really prepared me for the actual learning aspect I needed to do in order to grasp the math and English concepts (mostly math though). Today, the day of my GMAT exam oddly enough, I ordered the series of 8 books from ManhattanGMAT. Why did I do this? The overwhelming amount of positive feedback coming from all the people on this site. After taking the exam, I'd say that the math on the ManhattanGMAT is very indicative of your math score on the actual GMAT. I had a HELL of a time trying to understand the math on my test today. It was so damn difficult. Lots of theoretical crap and complex number theory. The English was pretty solid aside from some complex reading comprehension passages. These were my English score's bane. My mental stamina is pretty good; I attribute it to studying almost everyday since mid January 2009. I just study a lot so the 4 hours it took to take this test were a joke. I am an endurance man
(ladies). lol. By the way, the lady checking me in was really hot and had a nice rack. Too bad I didn't get her number, haa. Anyway, the school I go to now and am graduating in December requires a 550 to get accepted. The council primarily looks at your GMAT score and your past 60 hours of coursework (a 4.0 for me). I want to go to UCLA, Stanford, or some other top school instead of my school. That is my goal at least. I have an overall GPA of 3.65 and now a GMAT score of 660.
