(B) The finite supply of oil has become an economical

I think, both economic and economical are fine because both are synonyms. Even if we consider the most common meaning of economical: using resource without wastage, then that also is appropriate here as supply of oil is finite and, obviously, it needs to be used economically.

That in C and E is wrong: when 'that' is used as conjunction then the subordinate clause has to be separated from independent clause by a comma.

IMO B, for it's pithy.

(A) The supply of oil being finite has become an economical
(B) The finite supply of oil has become an economical
(C) That the supply of oil is finite has become an economical
(D) The supply of oil being finite has become an economic
(E) That the supply of oil is finite has become an economic
E by POE

word "economic" ( related to economy) is required here and not economical (related to costs)

Eliminate A, B and C

D is wordy

i go with E .

It cannot be economical ( related to Money/affordable) . It has to be Economic( related to economy) so that its parallel to Politcal.

the fact that oil supply is finite has become a political and economic consideration. the oil supply itself has not become a political and economic consideration

Scoobydooby is right. "That the supply of oil is finite" means about the same as "The fact that the supply of oil is finite..." This is preferable to using a gerund ("The supply of oil being finite...")

If anyone here speaks British English, you need to know that in American, "economical" means "cheap" or "a good deal." "Economic" means "having to do with the economy." Someone pointed that out up above, but the comment may not have made sense to speakers of British English, in which I believe the two words are synonyms (any Brits here can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). It's another one of these cases where the standards applied on the GMAT may not be the same rules you use in your everyday speech.
