I've seen a new set of books for the GMAT from veritas. They have 12 books and not 15 like before.
When were they released and do I have access to some GMAT practice tests online ?
It's not mentioned in the website. I also don't have the titles of the 12 books, and how long does it take to send them to the UK or France ? I am wondering because there are few informations..I'm very interessed in the books but I want more information before ordering.
Thanks

We started using the new books for our September classes, so they are about 2 months old. The titles are:

1--Foundations of GMAT Logic
2--Arithmetic
3--Critical Reasoning
4--Algebra
5--Sentence Correction
6--Geometry
7--Reading Comprehension
8--Data Sufficiency
9--Advanced Verbal Strategy
10--Statistics & Combinatorics
11--Word Problems
12--AWA & IR

They do still come with access to practice tests. I'm not sure how long shipping to the UK or France takes, but [email protected] would be able to help.

Okay, so I am biased, but only because I have taught several classes with the books already and it has made my life so much easier!

The new books are great! They have the new "skillbuilder" sections that cover all of the base knowledge needed and that allows the lessons go into some very tough content. Many of these problems are 90%th percentile but they are designed to teach people at every level.

Agreed, though it sometimes seems that a lot of my cool "secrets" are already in the book now!

What is covered in the Advanced Verbal Strategy book? Is it as effective as a stand alone book (for those that have covered non Veritas sources for basic verbal prep)?

The advanced verbal book is all about the strategies that the test writers use to take questions up to the 80th percentile - 90th percentile and above.

It features difficult questions from all three areas SC, CR, and RC. So it is very helpful when you are already above the 75th percentile.

However, let me say this, the information in the Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension books is golden. If you have any doubts about the strategies that you are using when you approach each question then you would want to go to the individual books first. The sentence correction book also has the "skillbuilder" section that reviews all of the grammar.

So, if you feel very good about your techniques, methods, knowledge, etc. and you are already at the 75th percentile then you could go straight to the advanced verbal strategy. Otherwise the three "basic" verbal books have strategies and information that I have not seen in any other materials.

Hi,

Thanks, Will surely look into those books once i get into round two of prep..Your advise on the Advanced problem book was spot on, I just finished practicing and reviewing the 134 questions and feel that i am greatly improved at word problems and some of the DS questions in that book were brutal ;). Will now hit the DS book as that is my weakness in quant..

Bill,

I was recently gifted the old Veritas books; how much have the books changed? Should I just tell the person to return the books, and try to get the new ones?
