Stacy, thanks so much for your insight. I've read your work here, and heard your thoughts on podcasts from MBApodcaster.com.

730 GMAT (82Q, 97V)

Albion College, Albion, Michigan. B.A. in English.
2.1 GPA--I was immature, this was 20 years ago.

Michigan State. Completed coursework for M.A. in journalism at Michigan State with a 3.55 GPA. I got a little more serious, but didn't have the money to to stick around and defend my thesis.

Since Michigan State, I've spent 18 years in journalism working for newspapers, magazines, Internet portals and a cable TV network as a writer, editor and producer.

I've been accepted into an EMBA program in Florida, but I might be taking a job in Connecticut, and I'm wondering if any of the prestigious schools up there are possibilities? I don't have much in the way of an extracurricular life, but I work 2-3 freelance jobs in addition to my regular newspaper job, and with a wife and kids, there's little time to do volunteer work. Also, will a top-notch school overlook that awful undergrad GPA and consider instead my grad-school GPA, GMAT score and work history?

If I stay in Florida, or if I move, I'll be working full time, so I need your thoughts on EMBA or PMBA programs where I'd be a serious candidate.

Thanks again!

Question #1 - Why do you want an MBA? You are going to have to tell a compelling story, because it is not an obvious fit with your background.

School suggestion - you may want to look at a program like Columbia-Berkeley, where you would travel to campus for each session regardless of where you are living - the program is on two coasts.

2.1 is significantly below the average for any top program, but I have found that the Executive programs are a bit more forgiving, and it was so long ago, hopefully you can build acase around what you have accomplished since then.
