Let's take each statement one by one.

1) The portion of the golf course to be fertilized is 30 meters by 50 meters.

No information on the amount of fertilizer and nitrogen. Insufficient.

2) The amount of fertilizers must be needed is 40 kg and fertilizer must be nitrogen and potash in 6 : 4 proportions respectively.

Since the statement states that "The amount of fertilizers must be needed is 40 kg," we must not care for the area of the golf course to be fertilized. Thus, the amount of nitrogen = 40*[6/(6 + 4)] = 24 kg.

The correct answer: B

Hope this helps!

Question: find the total amount of nitrogen needed in the fertilizer to be used for the golf company.
Statement 1: The golf score is 30 by 50 meters.
Total area = 30 * 50 = 1500 square meters.
Total amount of nitrogen needed = nitrogen needed per square meters * 1500 square meters.
Since the nitrogen needed per sq. meters is not known, then statement 1 is INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: The amount of fertilizer needed is 40 kg and the fertilizer must be composed of nitrogen and potash in the proportion 6:4 respectively.
$$Therefore,\6+4=10$$
Portion of fertilizer = 40/10 kg = 4kg
So for Nitrogen, N = 6 * 4kg = 24kg
Potash, Po = 4 * 4kg = 16kg

From the result above, the total amount of Nitrogen needed = 24kg. Therefore, statement 2 is SUFFICIENT.

Since statement 2 alone is SUFFICIENT, then our answer is option B.
