If 10 issues of a magazine = $24
$$Then\ 1\ issue=\frac{$24\cdot1}{10}=$2.4$$
Note: there is a 20% saving on cover prices. Thus means that 1 tissue will have 80% of cover price.
Left cover price = C
$2.4 = 80% of C
$2.4 = 0.8 * C
C = $2.4/0.8 = $3

If a subscription for 10 issues of a magazine costs $24.00 and represents a saving of 20 percent of the cover prices, what is the cover price per issue?

A. $1.98
B. $2.40
C. $2.80
D. $2.86
E. $3.00

OA E
We can create the following equation in which n = full cost for 10 issues of the magazine:

24 = 0.8n

240/8 = n

30 = n

So, the regular cost per issue is 30/10 = $3.00.
