Number theory

by pbanavara » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:08 pm
If y > 0, is y greater than x ?

(1) 3x = 2y
(2) x + y = 5

Shouldn't the answer be D ?

the OA is A

x+y = 5 also answers the question is y > x : No

Your thoughts please

A) says 3x=2y

where y =(3/2) times x ... where y is def > x

B)x+y=5... where two unknowns ! and its awlays Insuffienct

just in case !!

assusme :

x=3, y=2

where y>0 and also 3+2=5 but here x>y

vice versa !! Inssuficent
