(1) m + 4n = 20
(2) m + n = 11

The OA is A.

How can I use statement (1) to find the average? Experts I need your help.
The average (arithmetic mean) of 3m and 12n = (3m + 12n)/2 = 3/2*(m + 4n)

(1) m + 4n = 20

The average (arithmetic mean) of 3m and 12n = 3/2*(m + 4n) = 3/2*20 = 30. Sufficient.

(2) m + n = 11

We cannot get the value (m + 4n) to get the average. Insufficient.

The correct answer: A

Hope this helps!
