Given the ratio of w to x to y is 1 : 2 : 3, we have w = p; x = 2p; and y = 3p. Thus, w + x = p + 2p = 3p
If we get the value of p, we get the answer.
Let's take each statement one by one.
(1) x - w = 5
=> 2p - p = p = 5 => p = 5. Sufficient.
(2) 3y - 2w = 35
=> 3*3p - 2p = 9p - 2p = 7p = 35 => p = 5. Sufficient.
The correct answer:
D
Hope this helps!
