Let's first find out the current median.

Arranging the points in ascending order...

Luke - 15
Nora -22
Mia - 38 (Middle-most => Median = 38)
Jake - 51
Keri - 63

For Median to change, with Luke's points increased, Luke's score must be 3rd in order, i.e. Nora should be 1st and Mia should be 2nd. This means Luke must have 39 points. For this to happen, Luke needs 39 – 15 = 24 points. Let's visit the revised order.

Nora -22
Mia - 38
Luke - 15 + 24 = 39(Middle-most => Median = 39 > 38)
Keri - 63 – 24 = 39
Jake - 51

Since the above is in ascending order and the median is increased, 24 is the correct answer.

The correct answer: B

Hope this helps!

Currently, the median is 38.

Let’s analyze the answer choices:

A) 23

If Keri gives 23 points to Luke, then Keri has 40 points and Luke 38, and the numbers are: 22, 38, 38, 40, 51. The new median is 38, but it has not increased.

B) 24

If Keri gives 24 points to Luke, then Keri has 39 points and Luke 39, and the numbers are: 22, 38, 39, 39, 51. The new median is 39, and it HAS increased.

Answer: B
