The Teapot Dome oilfield in Wyoming generally produces two types of crude oil: a light, brown oil that comes from the shallow Shannon formation and the heavy, black oil is found in the much deeper Tensleep formation.

A. formation and the heavy, black oil is found

B. formation, a heavy, black oil is found

C. formation while a heavy, black oil is

D. formation and a heavy, black oil found

E. formation, a heavy, black oil

Since we're listing two types of crude oil, we need a linking word between them. A and D use "and", C uses "while, and B and E don't use a linking word at all. We can get rid of B and E.

"While" doesn't make sense in this context, so really we're choosing between A and D. D is better: "a light, brown oil AND a heavy, black oil."
