1/2 the result obtained when 2 is subtracted from 5x is equal to the sum of 10 and 3x
We can write: (1/2)(5x - 2) = 3x + 10
Multiply both sides by 2 to get: 5x - 2 = 6x + 20
Add 2 to both sides to get: 5x = 6x + 22
Subtract 6x from both sides to get: -x = 22
Divide both sides by -1 to get: x = -22

Answer: A

When we subtract 2 from 5x, we get 5x - 2 and 1/2 of this is (5x - 2)/2. We are given that this expression is equal to 3x + 10, thus:

(5x - 2)/2 = 3x + 10

5x - 2 = 6x + 20

x = -22
