Is John older than Ricardo?

Is John older than Ricardo?

(1) John is twice as old as Edgar, and Edgar is half as old as Clara.
(2) Ricardo is younger than Clara, but older than Edgar.

The OA is the option C .

I know that each statement alone is not sufficient. But, I don't know how to use both statements together to get an answer.

Experts, may you give me some help? Please.

We have to find out whether John's age > Ricardo's age.

(1) John is twice as old as Edgar, and Edgar is half as old as Clara.

Say Clara is x years old, then Edgar is x/2 years old and John is 2*(x/2) = x years old. Thus, Clara's age = John's age. We have no information about Ricardo. Insufficient.

(2) Ricardo is younger than Clara, but older than Edgar.

We have Edgar's age < Ricardo' s age < Clara's age. We do not have any information about John's age. Insufficient.

(1) and (2) together

Since from (1), we know that Clara's age and John's age are equal and from (2) we know that Ricardo' s age < Clara's age. Thus, Ricardo' s age < John's age. The answer is Yes. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C

Hope this helps!
