Group of lawyers

Can someone clarify the subj & verb agreement for 'Group'? Feel free to change the sentence as the idea is to understand usage of 'Group' and its impact on verb. Tx.

A Group of lawyers has/have put its/their signatures on this notice.

This is tricky and thought provoking sentence because of "signatures". I think that a "group" can not put "signatures". It should have been
All lawyers from a group of lawyers have put signatures on this notice.
OR
Every lawyer from a group of lawyers has put his/her signature on this notice.

Did you get to see any such sentence from which you derived this question or it was just a thought?

I saw a sentence with 'group' and wanted to clear my doubts.

Lets see what others say.

good one ...
IMO:

A group of ..... has put his or her signature on this notice.

A group of lawyers has put their signatures on this notice
[their refers to lawyers ... hope my understanding is correct]
