The figure above represents a window, with the shaded regions representing the openings for the glass. If all line segments in the figure are either horizontal or vertical and the openings are all the same size, what are the dimensions, in inches, of each opening (1 foot = 12 inches)?

(A) 12.0 by 18.0
(B) 10.5 by 16.5
(C) 9.0 by 15.0
(D) 8.0 by 10.0
(E) 7.5 by 13.5

Length of each opening = (1/2 of 3 feet - 3*3 in) = 1/2 of (3*12 in - 3 in) = (36 - 9)/2 in = 13.5 in;
Width of each opening = (1/2 of 2 feet - 3*3 in) = 1/2 of (2*12 in - 3 in) = (24 - 9)/2 in = 7.5 in

Thus, the dimensions, in inches, of each opening = 7.5 in by 13.5 in

The correct answer: E

Hope this helps!
