Needless to state that each statement alone is insufficient. From Statement 1, we know that 50% of boys are holding a Popsicle. Say there are x boys, thus, x/2 boys are holding a Popsicle. From Statement 2, we know that 50% of girls are holding a Popsicle. Say there are y girls, thus, y/2 girls are holding a Popsicle.

So out of (x + y) children (x/2 + y/2) are holding a Popsicle.

Percent of the children holding a Popsicle = [(x/2 + y/2)/(x + y)]*100% = 50%. Sufficient

The correct answer: C
