Solution:

Let’s let t = the total number of students at the school. Thus, 3t/5 students are boys, and 2t/5 students are girls.

We are given that 1/4 of the boys play soccer, so we have (1/4)(3t/5) = 3t/20 is the number of boys who play soccer. We are also given that the number of girls who play soccer is equal to the number of boys who play soccer, so the number of girls who play soccer is also 3t/20.

Thus, the fraction of girls who play soccer is (3t/20) / (2t/5) = 15/40 = 3/8.

Answer: E
