The OA is the option C.

Experts, may you show me what is the best way to solve this PS question? What is the formula that helps me here? Thanks in advanced.

Hi M7MBA,

We're told that each baseball team in a league has a roster of players in the ratio of 2 pitchers for every 3 fielders, each team has a total of 25 players on its roster and there are 12 teams in the league. We're asked for the difference between the number of pitchers in the league and the number of fielders in the league. The math behind this question can be done in several ways, but this question is ultimately about multiples and multiplication.

Since each team has 25 placers, and the ratio of pitchers to fielders is 2:3, then that means there are 2 pitchers for every 5 TOTAL players on the team...
25 TOTAL players
10 pitchers
15 fielders

For this 1 team, there are 5 MORE fielders than pitchers; with 12 teams in the league, that TOTAL difference would be 12(5) = 60 players

Final Answer: C

A. 10
B. 15
C. 60
D. 120
E. 180

The ratio of pitchers to fielders = 2x : 3x. Since each team has 25 players:

2x + 3x = 25

5x = 25

x = 5

Each team has 10 pitchers and 15 fielders. Thus, the number of pitchers in the league is 10 x 12 = 120, and the number of fielders in the league is 15 x 12 = 180.

Thus, there are 180 - 120 = 60 fewer pitchers than fielders.

Answer: C
