Sales transactions

by crackgmat007 » Fri Aug 07, 2009 2:15 pm
In June 1989, what was the ratio of the number of sales transactions made by Salesperson
X to the number of sales transactions made by Salesperson Y?
(1) In June 1989, Salesperson X made 50 percent more sales transactions than
Salesperson Y did in May 1989.
(2) In June 1989, Salesperson Y made 25 percent more sales transactions than in
May 1989.

OA - C Pls explain

IMO C.
Let me try to explain

The number of sales of RepX in June - (JSX)
The number of sales of Rep Y in June – (JSY)
The number of sales of Rep Y in May – (MSY)

We are required to find (JSX/JSY)

Statement 1- JSX= 1.5 (MSY) –In sufficient no info on JSY
Statement 2- JSY= 1.25(MSY)—Insufficient – No info on JSX

Combine we have all the information we need.

From 1 JSX=1.5MSY
From 2 JSY=1.25 MSY

So we can find the ratio of JSX/JSY

Hope this helps.

OA - C Pls explain
statement 1)

May June
Salesman x 1.5x
Salesman y x

we need salesman y's performance in june...insufficient

statemen2)

May June
Salesman x
Salesman y x 1.25x

we need salesman x's performance in june...insufficient

Combined

May June
Salesman x 1.5x
Salesman y x 1.25x

Now we can set up ratio of Salesman X to Salesman Y transactions.
Big concept here is you do not need actual numbers to get ratio of transactions.

You got this man!
