DS + Time and Distance

by harsh.champ » Fri Feb 19, 2010 2:16 pm
How long did it take Henry to drive to work last Wednesday? (He did not stop on the way).

1. If he had driven twice as fast he would have taken 35 minutes.
2. His average speed was 30 miles per hour.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

Just because something is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't try,it means you should just try harder.

St.1: If he had driven twice as fast he would have taken 35 minutes. That means taken by him now = 70 minutes ========sufficient
St. 2: His average speed is given but we don't know the exact distance of his journey ....so we can't calculate the time...
==========insufficient

I choose A... this wasn't that difficult of a problem.. i like the questions that you can just "think" about and dont have to really solve anything

if he drove twice as fast he would have made it in 35 minutes so that means it originally took him 70 minutes

ds like this puzzles me
i think s1) does not say that he had driven twice as fast he would is true for all day
in that case it sud be E

dont we need to mention it explictly
