(1) When Mark purchased Product X in January 1997, the warranty did not expire until March 1997.
(2) When Santos purchased Product X in May 1997, the warranty expired in May 1997.
Statement 1:
Minimum number of days:
purchase date = January 31, expiration date = March 1
Here, the expiration date = (28 days of February) + (first day of March) = 29 days after purchase.
Maximum number of days:
purchase date = January 1, expiration date = March 31
Here, the expiration date = (30 days of January after the first day) + (28 days of February) + (31 days of March) = 89 days after purchase.
Implication:
The number of days after purchase can be any integer value between 29 and 89, inclusive.
INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:
Minimum number days after purchase:
purchase date = May 1, expiration date = May 2
Here, the expiration date = 1 day after purchase.
Maximum number of days after purchase:
purchase date = May 1, expiration date = May 31
Here, the expiration date = (30 days of May after May 1) = 30 days after purchase.
Implication:
The number of days after purchase can be any integer value between 1 and 30, inclusive.
INSUFFICIENT.

Statements combined:
Statement 1: range = 29 to 89 days, inclusive
Statement 2: range = 1 to 30 days, inclusive
The two ranges overlap such that the number of days after purchase can be 29 or 30.
INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is E.
